Week Ending 9/1/18

Not a super busy week………………………………………………..

As always, first the chronology:

8/26/18 – Sunday – Up early and out to pick up Gary for church. Back home and had coffee while I read the paper. Cleaned up the kitchen to stay awake till Kathy got home. Had lunch. Downstairs and did my blog. Then got ready and over to Gary’s for the Sunday afternoon get together. Home and sat at the pool while Kathy, Julie, Chloe and Shelby where swimming. Inside and cooked burgers and had corn for dinner. Back downstairs and pulled emails and did some research. Upstairs to bed, computer updates, TV and sleep.

8/27/18 – Monday – Up at usual time and morning routine. Then out to put the lawn mower from Dan Rice’s house in the bed of the pickup. Up to the bank to sign some papers then up to Mike and Julie’s to drop off the mower. To the AT&T store to get educated about roll over data then to hobby lobby for some things. Down to Taylorsville and made the buffet at Hometown Pizza. Home and took a nap. Up and did chores around the house. Did burgers and dogs on the grill for dinner. Downstairs to meet the guys on 2 meters and do some work on the Motorola Radius programming software. Did some other things around the work bench. To bed, TV and sleep.

8/28/18 – Tuesday – Up at usual time and morning routine. Cleaned up and out to the auto parts store and Tractor Supply for some shopping. Home and had lunch. Then down to my room and started working on an old Motorola Radius radio. Got it playing and need to wait for interconnect cable to re-program it. Had dinner then back to my room to chat with the guys on the radio. HF was not good but made a couple contacts. Did computer updates. Upstairs and chores, bed, some research, Big Bang and sleep.

8/29/18 – Wednesday – Up at the usual time and did my morning routine. Downstairs to make the 10AM retirees net. Spent the most of the day in my room getting ready for a re-arrangement. Stopped to come up for lunch. Kathy was cleaning bath rooms so I cleaned up the kitchen and got lunch ready. Quit for the day around 3:30 and went upstairs to get cleaned up. Then out to pick up Gary and to meet Mike at Bob Evans for dinner. Back home, some computer work. Checked the HF bands. To bed, Big Bang, some reading and sleep.

8/30/18 – Thursday – Up late and usual morning routine. Didn’t sleep for shit last night. Spent the day in my room doing little things while trying to stay awake. Stopped for lunch and dinner. Met the guys on 2 meters at 6:30, then the ARTs club net at 8:30. Then upstairs to bed, Big Bang and sleep.

8/31/18 – Friday – Up at the usual time and usual morning routine. Slept well last night. Did some chores around the house. Kathy went off shopping. I continued working on the HAM shack rearrangement. Didn’t have lunch. Kathy got home around 2:30PM and I helped her put groceries away. Got cleaned up. Hitched the trailer to the truck and headed up to Mike and Julie’s. Mike wants to go pick up lumber at Lowes. It started raining on our way up so we put off getting the lumber. I left the trailer at his house. We had dinner then home. To my room for emails and computer updates. To bed, some TV and sleep.

9/1/18 – Saturday – Up early and usual morning routine. Out with the truck to Mike’s place. Hitched the trailer and had coffee then up to Lowes for lumber. Back to Mike’s and unloaded the lumber. Home and lunch. A nap then up and cleaned up. Down to my room to play with programming cable on Motorola Radius radio. Got that working. Upstairs for dinner. Back to my room to research and order and iPod battery. Computer updates. Upstairs to bed. Big Bang and sleep.

Now the specifics:

Monday we signed some final papers to re-organize things at the bank.  It will give me a better handle on things and I’ll be able to watch them better.  I think I’ll do a better job then they did at the bank.  I already reduced my tax liability tremendously.  Anyway, April will give me a good indication if I’m doing things correctly and in the mean time I will reduce my debt and increase my overall capital.

I should have known Kathy keeping the grand kids was going to cost me.  I got a notice from AT&T that I was about to exceed my 5Gig data usage.  So I looked and it was all on Kathy’s phone.  Well, apparently the cable went out over at Mike and Julie’s from a guy running into one of the above ground cable huts.  So, Kathy turned on the hotspot on her phone so the kids could play their games.  Then I thought that I should have had roll over data from the previous month.  So I stopped at the AT&T store to ask about it.  They kept telling me that data only rolled over for one month.  I know that.  So what am I approaching the 5Gig mark and getting notices?  Well, it seems it happened last month as well so there was no roll over data.  That will cost me another $15 to $20 dollars next month.

I was going to do some modifications to my HAM layout and worked several days this week measuring and doing research on building things.  By the time I had it figured out I realized there were more pitfalls than I needed to deal with.  So, I’m back to square one and I’m looking for a cabinet/bookshelf with the appropriate dimensions  to put beside my existing stuff.  I want to offload some things from the desk into the cabinet so I have room for some new things on my desk.  It’s a never ending process.

I got to go pick up wood with my son-in-law this week.  He is building tiers in his media room for theater style seats.  He spent over $500 dollars on the wood to do that and the seats are going to be several thousand dollars.  He sure has a lot more money than I do.  But I thought it was painful going shopping with Kathy.  Well Mike picks up each piece of wood and checks it three different way to make sure it’s not warped, bent or twisted.  A very painful process.  But, he’s my only son in law so I’ll do whatever he asks of me.

OK, that’s it for this week.  Hope things are good with everyone.  I’ll blog at you again next week.
