A very wet week…………………………………………
As always, first the chronology:
3/10/19 – Sunday – Up early and over to pick up Gary for church. Home and snacks while reading the paper. Kathy came home late and we had lunch. Did chores around the house.
3/11/19 – Monday – Up and out to get registration renewed on the car, truck, trailer and motorcycle. Had lunch while out. Spent the afternoon finishing up the wiring to integrate the alarm in the Morton building into the house. Cleaned up the work bench and chores around the house.
3/12/19 – Tuesday – Spent the day playing radio. Did some calculations for a 2 meter Yagi antenna. Chatted with the guys on 2 meters. Bed, research, Big Bang and sleep.
3/13/19 – Wednesday – Out to CVS to fight with the pharmacy. Then grocery shopping. Home and lunch. Kathy did some chores and went to Dare to Care. I did some computer work and went to the church to setup chairs. Had dinner and helped cleanup. Home, dessert, bed, Big Bang, computer research and sleep.
3/14/19 – Thursday – Spent most of the day getting papers together for the accountant. Chatted with the guys on 2 meters. Very strong winds today and torrential downpours. Bed, reading, Big Bang and sleep.
3/15/19 – Friday – Took the papers up to the accountant then to Lowes to get some aluminum and some accessories. Home, had lunch and Kathy had to go up and watch the Grand Children. I worked on getting WSJT-X working with CQRLog and doing some other computer things. Started cooking dinner and working on laundry. Kathy came home and we had dinner. Downstairs to play radio. Bed, TV and sleep.
3/16/19 – Saturday – My son-in-law Mike didn’t need me for anything today so I stayed home, updated all the computer software and backed everything up. There was a contest this weekend so the bands where busy. Made a few digital contacts and one SSB contact. Finished catching up on my magazine reading. Bed, Big Bang, some calculations and sleep.
Now the particulars:
We had a lot of rain and wind this week. These are some pictures of the area between our house and the Morton building or pole barn, whatever you want to call it. There is a drainage ditch that drains water off the field across the street and goes across our property. When we get really heavy rains the ditches overflow and this is what happens.
One little pine tree got uprooted by the wind. All in all we made out very well with the weather.
Finally finished up the project of integrating the alarm system in the Morton building with the house alarm system. Now if someone trips the alarm it will show up on the alarm system at the house as the shop.
Still trying to build that 2 meter Yagi antenna. Can’t find any two source to agree on the dimensions. Still look and calculating.
I’ve been having ongoing problems with CVS lately. We used them in New York and when we first got down here. Even though they are not in network for our drug plan. We liked the people and they always looked out for us. However, lately it’s just been one thing after another. First, they can’t fill prescription for all of my medication. There is one that they don’t stock. So I have to go somewhere else and get it. Then recently I had some cream prescribed for a fungus on my butt. I ran out of the cream and CVS said they wouldn’t refill it for a couple more weeks. So I let the doctor know and he just sent them another prescription. I get a notice from CVS that I need to contact the pharmacy before it will be filled. So I stopped in and the young lady asked to help me and I explain why I’m there. She looks it up on the computer and tells me the pharmacist must review it before it can be filled. I asked why and she very rudely ignored me and walked away. Then the pharmacist came to the front desk and in front of everyone asked me what I was using it for. I should have simply told her it was none of her business but I did tell her. I really think that must be some kind of HIPAA violation asking me a question like that in public were others can hear me. Then I was going through my medical expenses for tax purposes and found they charge me twenty plus dollars for a prescription on one occasion and on another occasion charge me over a hundred dollars. This prescription is for the medication they don’t carry anymore and I can get at another pharmacy for less than five dollars. Needless to say, I am very unhappy with CVS and am currently looking at other pharmacies.
OK, on a lighter note, the tax information is all gathered and to the accountant. Now we just wait for the word on how much we owe or are getting back. I made some more adjustments this year so I’m hoping we don’t owe anything.
Last but not least, my HAM radio software is working very well. I can now run digital modes on HF and have the program that does that (WSJT-X) automatically log the contacts on my logging program (CWRLOG). Doesn’t sound like much here but it really is impressive.
OK, enough for now. Hope all is well and you all have a great week to come. Blog at you again new week.
