A rather busy week. A lot of physical work…………………..
As always, first the chronology:
5/19/19 – Sunday – No church this morning. They cancelled the early service and the Spanish minister was preaching the second service with an interpreter. The dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. This may be the end of my trying out organized religion again. So, I was up at the normal time, did computer updates, backups and uploads. Reread the instructions for our polling officer jobs coming up Tuesday. Upstairs for lunch. Back downstairs for the blog. Then out to Gary’s for the afternoon get together. Back home for dinner. Downstairs and played radio awhile. Upstairs, bed, computer updates, TV and sleep.
5/20/19 – Monday – Up and made breakfast (Bacon, Egg and Cheese on a buttered hard roll). Did some planning for a couple trips we have planned in June. Then out to the Morton building to finish work on the lawn mower. Had to make a run to Lowes for bolts. The house and had a late lunch. Worked on the pool awhile. Packed my things for tomorrow. Dinner. Downstairs and chatted with the guys on 2 meters. Upstairs to bed, computer updates, Big Bang and sleep.
5/21/19 – Tuesday – Up at 3AM, ready and out to the polling place to play polling officer for the day. Nothing exciting otherwise. Got done around 7PM. Stopped at McDonalds for dinner. Home and unpacked. Bed, computer updates, Big Bang and sleep.
5/22/19 – Wednesday – Slow getting up today. Worked on the pool most of the day. Played radio awhile. Otherwise took it easy. Got cleaned up and went to pick up Gary for dinner with Mike at the Cracker Barrel. Home and met Kathy at the garage to drop off her car for oil change and usual maintenance. Home, computer updates. Gather things to take tomorrow. Bed, Big Bang and sleep.
5/23/19 – Thursday – Up, loaded my tools and over to Gary’s to try to get his DSL and phone lines reconfigured. Spent 3 hours and was just spinning my wheels. Thankfully Mike was helping and kept me on track. Home, took Kathy to lunch at the Hillview restaurant then to the pool supply place. Home and worked on the pool the rest of the afternoon. In and cleaned up. Light dinner and downstairs to chat on 2 meters. Played radio awhile. Then upstairs to bed, computer updates, Big Bang and sleep.
5/24/19 – Friday – Up and out shopping. Stopped at Bob Evans for lunch. Home and unloaded. Worked on the pool while Kathy worked in the garden. I finished up and helped Kathy. Then Kathy went to pick up the grand kids to stay overnight. I blew up the air mattresses while she was gone. Then took the kids to Dairy Queen for dinner. Home and to bed. TV and sleep.
5/25/19 – Saturday – Up and out to put the solar cover on the pool. Cut up the cover and pillow and got those ready for the garbage. Then started mowing the lawn. Finished a little before 4PM. Inside, cleaned up then out to Cracker Barrel for dinner. Then shopping. Home, dessert, bed, computer updates, Big Bang and sleep.
Now the specifics:
My biggest concern was alleviated. We got the pool filled with water and it appears there is no leak. Apparently when the pillow deflated it allowed the cover to sink into the pool water and displace it out the return and skimmer holes. It destroyed the cover and of course the pillow so they were cut up and put in bags for the garbage man. I did need to replace the drain on the filter canister as it was leaking but otherwise the pool is up and running. Probably the earliest this has ever happened.
It was a very long day Tuesday. But we had a good group of people to work with and some not so nice people. But all in all it was a good time and I learned a lot. I will do it again in November.
Kathy had the grand kids over for a sleep over Friday night. I guess they had fun. I stayed away as much as possible.
My friend Gary asked us to move the DSL modem at his house. What started as a simple thing ended up being a disaster. I should have expected it since he always finds bizarre ways of making things over complicated. Long story short, getting a lan cable from point A to point B was not as easy as it appeared. So after 2 hours of work, nothing got done.
Kathy and I planned some trips for June. Todd will be visiting central PA and visiting people to show off the new baby. Some of those people are not anyone I chose to associate with. So, to avoid being a hypocrite or nasty person, Kathy will be going on her own. Later in the month we plan to travel to Assateaque State Park in Maryland. Our friends from central PA will be down there during June. It will be a two banger for Kathy. She will get to enjoy the beach and the park is known for it’s wild horses which she will enjoy. My friend Jim suggested I take the motorcycle. I’m inclined not to do that as we will only have 3 days there and Kathy doesn’t enjoy riding. But that might change.
The church decided to cancel the 8:30 service last Sunday because the minister was on vacation and they were having a Spanish speaking minister give the sermon but they could only get a translator for the second service. I checked and no one could identify any Spanish speaking people at the service. So rather than find someone that spoke English to cover bother services they had a Spanish speaking minister that could only be accommodated at one service and preach in Spanish to a group of people that couldn’t understand him. I have no idea what is going on. However, I did in fact give this organized religion a try and if failed me again. So, I don’t think you have to go to church to be a christian and think I know the difference between right and wrong.
I think I covered everything for this week. Hope all is well with everyone. Have a great week and blog at you again next week.
