Week Ending 2/27/21

Not a super exciting week………………………………..

As always, first the chronology:

2/21/21 – Sunday – Up at the usual time.  Got Kathy’s card out for our anniversary.  Did the blog and worked more on the new domain.  Got ready and out to dinner with our daughter, son-in-law and grand kids at Red Lobster.  Home and bed.

2/22/21 – Monday – Up at the usual time.  Spent most of the day updating various people I do business with and changing my email address.  Had a big lunch and a snack for dinner.  Usual evening routine.

2/23/21 – Tuesday – Up early this morning.  Kathy was out and up to watch the grand children.  I tightened up a chair in the kitchen then put my new spreader together I got for my tractor.  Spent the rest of the day changing email addresses.  Played radio for about an hour around 8AM but not much happening.  Kathy came home and went to pick up pizza which we had for dinner.  Usual evening routine.

2/24/21 – Wednesday – Up at the usual time.  Spent the morning finishing up the email migration.  All done now except for two outstanding trouble tickets.  Had lunch and out to the shop.  Worked on the generator and got it purring like a kitten.  Spent time cleaning things up and putting out stuff to repel the moles that are attacking the yard.  Over to Shelbyville with a stop at the bank, to the Mexican restaurant for dinner, Tractor Supply, a stop at Dollar General on the way home for milk.  Usual evening routine.

2/25/21 – Thursday – Up a little early today.  Kathy was already up and out to watch the grand kids.  Went to have my blood work for my annual wellness visit next week.  Ran some errands and got the truck washed.  Had lunch out at Hooter’s.  Than a quick stop to one of my watering holes.  Home and chores.  A nap.  Kathy came home and dinner.  Usual evening routine.

2/26/21 – Friday – Up at the usual time.  Played radio awhile but bands were extremely bad today.  Worked on porting website over to new provider.  Always problems.  Usual evening routine.

2/27/21 – Saturday – Up at the usual time.  Worked on the website.  Went over to Gary;s this afternoon to see if I could locate the problem with his remote.  Had other people working there so I’ll try it again tomorrow.  Kathy was out shopping with Julie and the grand kids all day.  She came home and we went up to drop off some old batteries and get a couple new ones for UPSs.  Then on up to Olive Garden for dinner.  Home and usual routine other than not chatting with the guys tonight.

Now the specifics:

The week started with our wedding anniversary which was last Sunday. Nothing exciting. Got the usual card and we made reservations at the Red Lobster for dinner. We invited the Rice family to be with us and they offered to pick up the tab. Actually, they insisted on picking up the tab. So that was good I guess. 🙂 Had a nice dinner then they went their way and we went ours.

Radio bands started to improve the end of last week but this week they deteriorated quickly. I tried several times during the week. Made contacts with some of the usual people on the various nets but in most cases it was very hard. A lot of noise and signals were down. Sure hope it improves soon.

Wednesday I had exceeded my capacity for looking at the computer so I went out to the shop since the weather was nice and put the new carburetor on my portable generator. Unlike the one it replaced, this one was adjustable so I was able to fine tune it and now it runs very smooth. So I now have a backup for the backup. Just have to remember to run it for an hour or so every month.

The rest of the week I spent working on email migration and website migration. I have most of the email stuff done. A few issues with some services but if it’s not resolved I’ll just wait till they expire and subscribe with a new account. I won’t be losing anything. Kathy is still working on hers and I take great pleasure in making fun of her.

I have the website uploaded to the new server and everything but the weather seems to be working OK. I will resolve that issue this week I hope and then make it live sometime during the week. Probably with or without the weather.

I guess Gary had a power hit at his house and I told him he needed to get a UPS for the computer over there but he hasn’t done that. Anyway, it got hosed up and now the remote doesn’t work. I was over a little Saturday last week and his wife Loretta had her daughter and live in “whatever he is” over to fix some issues on her computer. He thinks he’s a computer guru but in my opinion dumb as a stump. I’m not sure what they were doing but things kept changing on the LAN interface so I decided to wait till today and look at it when I go over this afternoon. Hopefully things won’t be changing today.

Gas prices are up over 50% here now. That’s been since December. Ask any Biden supporter and they’ll blame it on the bad weather in Texas. But it was starting to sky rocket before that. I guess they can’t see what Biden’s actions against the XL pipeline and getting us back into the Paris Climate accord is doing to our economy. He would rather stop the pipeline project here and buy our oil from countries that want to see us all dead. I am getting more and more frustrated with this crap. I can see how anyone that is just the slightest bit unstable could go off the deep end and do something tragic. This is a very sad time for our country. I can only hope that he can be controlled somewhat for 4 years so he does the least amount of damage then get someone that cares about our country in office.

OK, enough on the soap box. That’s it for this week. Next week looks like a very busy week so perhaps I”ll have more to chat about. Stay safe and healthy my friends. Blog at you again next week.

  1. It must have been real “fun” changing web site and email info. I am sure it ticked you off when you discovered the issue.
