Over seeded the front yard and ran the roller over where the moles dug up. Inside for lunch. Did a clean load on the new laptop. Everything works OK. Took a nap. Dinner and usual evening routine.
3/23/21 – Tuesday – Up at the usual time. Kathy was already up to the Rice residence to watch the grand children. Made some phone calls and took some. Checked emails but no time for radio. Lunch and cleaned up and out to Physical Therapy. Back home and some chores. Kathy came home and we went to Olive Garden for dinner. Stopped at Kohl’s on the way home to pick up some sweat pants for me. Another stop at Dairy Queen for desert. Home and chores. Usual evening routine.
3/24/21 – Wednesday – Up a little late. Got a cramp in the middle of the night that kept me awake for a couple hours. Cleaned up and chores this morning. Kathy went shopping. I had a snack for lunch then up to La Grange for my MRI. Made bacon, egg and cheese sandwich for dinner. Usual evening routine.

Then up to Middletown for pysical therapy. Stopped and picked up papers at the bank. Home and continued with the taxes. Kathy came home and had leftovers for dinner. Then the usual evening routine.
3/26/21 – Friday – Up at the usual time and cleaned up. Spent the morning finishing up getting the tax information ready for the accountant. Had lunch then tried playing radio awhile but bands where crappy. My HAM friends Leeta and Patrick came over and spent several hours with me in the shack. A very late dinner then usual evening routine.

Now the specifics:
The week started off with a bang. Monday I took the plow blade off the tractor. Don’t think there is any chance that we’ll get enough snow to plow anymore this year. Took the rototiller over to where the dirt pile used to be and worked that over. Then spread grass seed and covered it with a straw mix we got at Tractor supply. The straw was suppose to have seed mixed in with it. I did that all Monday because it was suppose to rain off and on the rest of the week and I figured mother nature would take care of the watering but that didn’t happen. But we’ll see. Beside the area where the dirt pile was I did some other areas that were bare. Then I used up the rest of the grass seed by over seeding the front yard. I want to get some Weed & Feed to put on the front yard yet to try and make that look nicer. Time will tell.
Monday I also used my new roller on the area where the moles had tunneled. The roller is about 4 feet wide and weights around 600 lbs when full of water. It seemed to do a rather good job but I have a couple other areas that need it as well. I may also just run it over the rest of the yard to see if I can smooth it out over time.
I apparently screwed up my new laptop somehow so I did a fresh Linux load on it. While putting things back I discovered what I had done. I followed the directions too well and lost the audio. I corrected that problem on the fresh load and everything is loaded and works great. I like my new laptop almost as much as my good laptop with the touch screen.
I started gathering all the stuff for the taxes this week. Made a call to our customer service gal at the bank to get me all that paper work. Started that chore on Wednesday and finished early Friday. Kathy keeps harping at me as we have an accountant but she doesn’t realize he is charging by the hour. So the easier I can make his job, the quicker it goes and the less I have to pay to get the taxes done. So that’s in an envelope and ready for the accountant Monday morning.
I have a new game to play. I bought some things at Lowes and I always use their credit card because I get %5 off everything I buy and charge on it. Then at the end of the billing cycle I simply pay it off so as not to incur any finance charges. Well the last time I payed it I just rounded what I owed them up to the nearest dollar. I usually do this since I’m always running to Lowes for this or that. As luck would have it I haven’t been to Lowes in a couple months. So, rather than just let the $.12 ride (That’s right, I said 12 cents), they spent $.45 on postage plus the cost of the envelope, paper and computer time creating it just to send me a check for $.12. So, Kathy and I are curious about how low they will go. So this month I will buy something trivial and pay $.11 more than I owe. I will keep decreasing it till I find out how stupid these people will be. Anyone want to take bets on this?
I am being a good boy and doing what the doctor prescribed. Tuesday and Thursday this week I was into Physical Therapy and Wednesday I went for my MRI of the lumbar spine. Tuesday I met with a lovely young lady named Jill Stump who is a DPT (Doctor of Physical Therapy) and she did my initial evaluation. She indicated they would be able to address my problems and make things better. She was otherwise occupied on Thursday so I was suppose to get a gentleman that works closely with her but instead got a trainee. She was doing her internship and was a lovely young lady as well. (Oh hell, let’s face it, all young ladies are lovely at my age) Anyway, she worked me rather hard which is the motivation I need. So it was all good. Sessions were in the afternoon this past week which interrupts the day as far as I’m concerned. So I managed to get my appointments scheduled in the morning this next week on Monday and Wednesday. I think that will work much better. I also get the feedback from my MRI I got last week on Tuesday of this coming week. We’ll see how that all turns out.
My newly acquired HAM friends, Patrick and Leeta stopped over Friday. They just passed their General class license test a couple weeks ago. They are a very nice couple and I’m helping them with getting the UHF repeater up and running here in Spencer County. They got delayed coming over so they didn’t get here till almost 4PM and stayed till after 6:30PM chatting about everything. So needless to say, dinner was a late one Friday.
I was up to Julie’s Saturday trying to help her with the kids laptops. They all have to have them for school these days. But it’s either the Lenovo system, Windows 10 or the sites they go to that is corrupting the systems. I’m not really sure what the issues are. But I reload the computer for Julie and this time she got a McAfee subscription that covers all the computers. We still have some kinks to work out but all will be good in time.
I guess that is about it for this week. As I said, next week I will have PT on Monday and Wednesday morning. Tuesday morning I have an appointment to get feed back on the MRI. Kathy will be doing the babysitting chores Tuesday and Thursday. I also have a hair cut appointment Thursday. Looks like another busy week ahead. But that’s a good thing I guess.
As always, hope this finds everyone safe and healthy. Keep up the good work and I’ll blog at you again next week.
