Woke Kathy up at noon and we called Christine to go up and put some things together for her. Went up and put together her TV stand. Home and stopped at Long Horn for dinner. Home and usual evening routine.

Forgot one connection on the interconnect cable. Brought everything home and will try again next week. Home and took a nap. Up for dinner. Usual evening routine.
9/23/21 – Thursday – Up a little late. Cleaned up and out to Christine’s house in Indiana. Helped Christine with some more things to get settled in her house. Home a little after lunch. Had a buttered bagel for lunch then a nap. Up and cleaned up again and out to dinner with Mike Craycroft and his wife. Stopped at Krispe Kreme for doughnuts and Dairy Queen for soft ice cream. Home, unloaded the truck and put it away. Usual evening routine the rest of the evening.

9/25/21 – Saturday – Up at the usual time. Chores around the house. Did some data updating on Godaddy and renewed my Megexcel.com name. Had lunch then cleaned up and out to the church for the pig roast/October fest. Worked there till 8PM. Home and relaxed. Otherwise the usual evening things.
Now the particulars:
I was offered a bunch of radio tubes and a couple of tube testers by my brother-in-law up in Cincinnati. I mentioned it to the guys on the radio and they said they would be interested in them. So, I took them over this past Sunday and they took one of the tube testers, rummaged through the tubes and someone took one. Then they were left for me to go through, test and catalogue. So I’ve been working on that off and on this week. I’ve gotten less than 1/4 of them done. This will be a long project.
A girl that graduated with Julie moved to southern Indiana from Alaska. Kathy and I went up Monday to help her get things settled and I went back up Thursday and worked a few hours. We have more work to do so I’ll probably be up there a day or so this week.
I finally got the controller finished for the UHF repeater here on Spencer County. Took that over Thursday afternoon and it was missing a connection on the plug that goes into the repeater. So, I’ll need to fix that and try again hopefully this week.
Thursday evening Kathy and I went out to dinner with Mike Craycroft and his wife. We ate at the Cattleman’s Steakhouse. We had a good time and it was nice visiting with Mike and Gloria.

The dogs seem to be getting along OK. I was able to snap this picture. I thought it was cute.
My son-in-law Mike wanted some help this Friday. He is working on rebuilding his deck. Told me he wanted to go pick up 25 60lb. bags of concrete for the posts. I was in no mood to lug that.

So I prepared for the event. I figured if I was carrying a cane and limping a little he would be too embarrassed to ask me to help. It didn’t work.
We ended up getting 19 80lb bags. I was going to split it up between the bed of the truck and the trailer. But before I could catch him, Mike had the bags stacked two high on the trailer. Needless to say he bent the hell out of the trailer. I’ll have to get that fixed when I get the trailer back.
Saturday morning I spent time getting my account straightened out at Godaddy and renewing my megexcel.com account. That’s all taken care of now.
Saturday afternoon was the pig roast for October Fest at my church.

Here is the way they do it in Kentucky. Also had brats, sauerkraut, green beans, German potato salad, all kind of desserts. $10 for all you can eat. Beer was extra. It was also funny that the guys couldn’t figure out how to make the tap work on the beer kegs. It took the recovering alcoholic to show them how.
Well that is it in a nut shell. It started out as a very easy week but got filled up quickly. I would like to say that next week looks rather easy but I don’t want to jinx myself.
Well that’s it for this week. Hope this finds everyone safe and healthy. Stay that way and I’ll blog at you again next week.
Missed the past couple weeks of reading the blog. Caught up now. Sounds like you have been keeping yourself busy!
I have been running to doctor appointments and more to come. The dreaded colonoscopy this week, sinus surgery next week…right sinus is totally blocked. Then off to see new primary doctor on the 11th. Needed a new doctor since my “old” doctor doesn’t take Medicare. Also been seeing eye doctor to open the oil glands beneath my eyes. What a difference it makes to open these up…no more burning with dry eye and having to use eye drops all the time. Mammogram will be upcoming and dermatologist is in the horizon for yearly check. Had my flu shot. Need to get pneumonia vaccine and shingles vaccine. This getting old is for the birds!! All you do is continuously see doctors!!
Got things cleaned up after Hurricane Nicholas (Category 1). Lake Jackson took the eye wall of the storm which wasn’t fun! Wind was horrible with 6″ of rain. I lost power for only 17 hours but other parts of town, it was over a week. Six of the nine electric feeders into the city were severely damaged.. Tree debris and fence damage around town was high. Some house were damaged, especially with shingles blown off in the older parts of town. I had a lot of yard debris. Thank goodness my friend had a generator running and I could take my refrigerated items to his house. Freezer stayed cold. Guess what I will be getting at my house…a generator so I can at least keep fridge/freezer cold. No damage to the house but I did find some cedar on my chimney stack that needed to be replaced. Took care of that the next day. Also had gutter guards put on my patio gutters to keep leaves out of them since it is a pain to keep them clean.
Stay safe and healthy! Until next week…
