A busy week but got a lot done………………………………………….
As always, first the chronology:
4/3/22 – Sunday – Up at the usual time. Usual morning routine. Cleaned up and out to church with Kathy. Home and lunch. Down to do the blog then over to Gary’s for the afternoon get together. Home and took Kathy to Cattleman’s Roadhouse for dinner with the Rice family. Home and usual evening routine.
4/4/22 – Monday – Up at the usual time. Kathy and I got cleaned up and were out to pick up Gary and Loretta. Took Gary to Harbor Freight to get some things he wanted then we treated them to lunch at Bob Evan’s on the way home. Dropped Kathy off, picked up my bow and an arrow and headed for OPS Supply. They put markers on my string where the arrows should be. Got some more arrows while there and chatted briefly with a fellow that does coaching with a long bow. Headed over to Harbor Freight in Shelbyville to pick up an air hose reel that is on sale that they didn’t have up at Westport road where I took Gary. Then to Walmart for a HDMI cable. Got home a little after 3PM. Did some computer work then a snack for dinner and downstairs for the usual evening routine.
4/5/22 – Tuesday – Up a little late this morning. Kathy went out to have her hair done. I did some research and ordered some parts. A snack for lunch then up to Indiana to take Julie’s friend Christine to the oral surgeon to have a tooth extracted. Took her back home then stopped at Olive Garden on the way home for dinner. Usual evening routine.
4/6/22 – Wednesday – Up a little late this morning. Kathy was getting ready to go out with Julie and the grand kids to an escape room. I got cleaned up and out to Lowes for some things to do antenna work tomorrow. Stopped at Arby’s on the way home for lunch. Home and started putting things together for tomorrow and putting connectors on cable. Kathy came home and I helped her put things away. Dinner and usual evening routine.
4/7/22 – Thursday – Up at the usual time. Mike (my son-in-law) came over to help me do antenna work. It took most of the day but got everything done I wanted to do. Julie and the grand kids came over as well. All had burgers, dogs and brats on the grill for lunch. Then Julie and the grand kids helped Kathy plant some flowers. Finished up around 4 PM. Inside for Motrin, a snack for dinner and usual evening routine.
4/8/22 – Friday – Up a little early but very slowly. Spent the day cleaning up from yesterday and getting the shack back in order. Went to J-town late afternoon to help with HAM testing. Home, picked up Kathy and to Hometown for dinner. Usual evening routine.
4/9/22 – Saturday – Up very late this morning. Did not sleep well at all last night with a late dinner at Hometown including a Pepsi. Did the usual Saturday morning routine. Kathy was off to the Rice house to help Julie. I went to the shack and continued my efforts on TARPN. Kathy came home and we had a great dinner. Usual evening routine.
Now the specifics:
Monday I wanted to get some things at Harbor Freight and Gary wanted some things so Kathy and I talked and decided to invite Gary and Loretta to get them out of the house. We went to Harbor Freight then stopped at Bob Evan’s on the way home for lunch. I think Gary and Loretta both were happy to be out and about without worrying about the drive. They didn’t have what I wanted there anyway so after I dropped them off and took Kathy home, I went over to the Harbor Freight in Shelbyville and got what I wanted.
Got my new bow last week so took it to OPS Supply and got them to mark my string for arrow placement. Bought a few arrows while there. Chatted with the guy that works there and he gave me a lead on a guy that gives private lessons for $30/hour. I got his phone number and will touch base with him this week and set up some time. I’ll keep you posted on that.
I’m doing a presentation this coming week on Linux for our ham club in Shelbyville. So I had to stop at Walmart Monday and get a 25′ HDMI cable so I can project my laptop screen on the TV at the training center.
A friend of Julie’s that moved here from Alaska was scheduled to have oral surgery on Tuesday and since she has no family or close friends here, Kathy and I went up to take her. As it turned out they couldn’t get an IV started on her so the used a local. She probably could have driven herself but we didn’t know that ahead of time. Anyway, all is good and she got the troublesome tooth out.
Wanted to get some antenna work done this week. Wednesday I went to Lowes to get some material then home and did some preliminary work.

Thursday, my son-in-law came over and we did the actual roof work. Here is a picture my son-in-law took of me on the roof. I did the complicated part then he did the simple stuff for me. Took all day but we got everything done. Now I have more capacity and less interference between antennas. Of course the trade off is that I’m still somewhat sore. I guess 74 year old men should not be climbing on the roof.
The rest of the week I spend recovering. I also got the parts I ordered to fix my TNCs. I got those put on and they work now. I set up a TARPN test system with the modems looped to each other and they have been running error free for 3 days now. Next test will be putting the radios on the modems and making sure they will pass the 9600 baud.
Other then helping with testing on Friday, that was about all the excitement for this week. As always, hope this finds you safe and healthy. Please stay that way. Blog at you again next week.
