Nothing spectacular this week…………………………..
As always, first the chronology:
4/10/22 – Sunday – Up at the usual time. Cleaned up and out to church with Kathy. Home and lunch. Down to do the blog then out to Gary’s for the afternoon get together. Home and picked up Kathy and out to Applebee’s for dinner. Home and the usual evening routine.
4/11/22 – Monday – Up at the usual time. Out to put insurance documents in cars. Then to the Morton building to clean things up a little. Put the new springs for the seat on the tractor. Took the battery out as it’s going soft and I’ll replace it this week. In for lunch. Spent the afternoon in the shack making interconnect cables. Dinner and usual evening routine.
4/12/22 – Tuesday – Up at the usual time. Cleaned up and took Kathy up to Middletown so they could measure her eyes for her cataract surgery. Then up to Bob Evan’s for lunch. Over to Office Max to buy cases for our IPads. Home and fixed a problem Kathy had with her Secure Safe. Then took the Vibe down to Daugherty’s to have the oil changed, tires rotated and had them check the breaks. Home and Kathy went grocery shopping. I tried to take a nap but got interrupted by phone calls. By the 4th call I gave up. Kathy got home shortly before 4PM. Helped her in with the groceries. Then over to Wright Implement in Shelbyville for a new battery for the lawn tractor. Arby’s for dinner, the bank for money and a stop at Harbor Freight to waste some time. Then over to the fire station for the HAM club meeting. Had a testing session at 6PM then the HAM club meeting at 7PM. Home, dessert and bed.
4/13/22 – Wednesday – Up a little late this morning. Cleaned up and chores around the house. Left the house about 12:15PM for my first archery lesson. Got back about 4PM. Dinner and usual evening routine.
4/14/22 – Thursday – Up a little early this morning and out to get Gary for our hair cuts. Back and dropped him off, home and off with Kathy to a doctor appointment. Ate at Cracker Barrel on the way home. Dropped off Kathy and hitched the trailer to the truck and off to get 7 bails of straw. Back and reconstructed the backstop for my archery practice. Inside and started working on getting fldigi working on the IC-735. Snack for dinner and usual evening routine.
4/15/22 – Friday – Up the usual time. Dressed and out to start the yard work. First mowing of the season. Very wet. Had to do a lot of it by hand. Not sure what hurts more, my legs or my back. Finished up around 4PM. Doesn’t look too bad. Inside to rest and clean up. Dinner and usual evening routine.
4/16/22 – Saturday – Up at the usual time. Kathy was out to Julie’s. Going to get the kids picture taken with the Easter Bunny at Cabela’s. I spent the day in the shack getting FLDIGI loaded on the laptop and getting it working with my old IC-735. Got that done late. Had my home made potato soup for lunch. Kathy went out and picked up Chinese for dinner. Usual evening routine.
Now the specifics:
Wednesday evening into Thursday morning was interesting. We had a line of storms pass through the area that resulted in a total of 7 tornadoes. Although Spencer County was not hit hard, the NWS confirmed a couple touched down in the county. Most affected was the northeast part of the county. We live in the Western part. Was on the radio with communications all over Spencer and Shelby counties. An interesting night indeed. Fortunately all is well here.
I ordered some new springs for the seat on the lawn tractor so I put them on this week. Battery was going soft so I pulled it and stopped by Wright Implement on Thursday and picked up a new one. Put it on and everything is good now.

Friday we had to do the lawn. It was wet and very long. Wasn’t sure we were going to get it all done but we did. A long day. Kathy did most of the mowing with the lawn tractor while I did the stuff with the hand mower and trimmer. Finished product didn’t look to bad for the first cut this year.
I’m still pursuing my archery proficiency. Went to OPS supply for a lesson this week on Wednesday. Thursday I got 7 straw bails for a back stop. Not sure that’s going to work too well with the new bow but at least it will slow down the arrows. Keep you posted on that effort.

Kathy and Julie took the grand kids to Cabela’s on Saturday to get their picture taken with the Easter Bunny. Here’s what happened. Kids were well behaved then Kathy and Julie had to get in the act.
Spent some time early in the week getting some cables made to do some TARPN testing. However, the storm Wednesday blew my antenna around so things will have to wait till later this week when I can get on the roof and get it pointed where it should be.
The latter part of the week was spent getting fldigi (A HF digital communication program) working with my ICOM IC-735. Just in case they want to do digital modes for field day this year.
That’s about all the excitement this week. Hope this finds everyone safe and healthy. Stay that way. Blog at you again next week.
