Not an exciting week but it did have it’s up and downs……………………….
As always, first the chronology:
5/29/22 – Sunday – Up at the usual time. Cleaned up and out to church with Kathy. Home and a light lunch. Down to do the blog. Out to Gary’s for the Sunday afternoon get together. Home and picked up Kathy and the truck and over to Bardstown road to Applebees. Then next door to Kroger for some shopping. Home and unloaded and put away groceries. Usual evening routine.
5/30/22 – Monday – Up at the usual time. Spent the morning working on the pool getting it ready for the season. Light lunch then cleaned up and a nap. Out to Mike and Julie’s for dinner. Ryan and his wife, Dee and Christine were also there. Had the trailer on the truck and brought Mike’s mower back. Otherwise, usual evening routine.
5/31/22 – Tuesday – Up at the usual time. Went down and got the three gas cans filled. It’s getting more expensive to mow the lawn. Spent the rest of the day doing the yard work. Kathy ran the mower and I did all the trimming. Got the mower back on the trailer and will take it back to my son-in-law tomorrow. Usual evening routine.
6/1/22 – Wednesday – Up at the usual time. Took the mower back to my son-in-laws place. Visited with Julie awhile. Then home and unhooked things. Down to Taylorsville for lunch at Subway. Home and some chores. Kathy went back up to take Julie for a medical procedure this afternoon. I did some reading and played radio. Had dinner and usual evening routine.
6/2/22 – Thursday – Up a little early today. Kathy was up and out to watch the grand kids for the day. Last night one of Chloe’s rabbits died. So I went up to Walmart, picked up a couple inner tubes for her bicycle and headed over to the house. On inspection I discovered the front tire was bad. So went to a cycle shop and bought her a new one. Back to the house and put new tire and inner tube on front wheel and replaced inner tube on rear wheel. She shouldn’t have problems with her bike anymore. Went to Hooter’s for lunch. Then home and worked on things around the house. Kathy came home and we went to Hometown Pizza for dinner. Home and usual evening routine.
6/3/22 – Friday – Up at the usual time. Over to Lowes and picked up a quick connect fitting for the wand on the power washer. Home and fixed the power washer. Lubricated the overhead doors and changed filter in the furnace. Helped Kathy with some things. Usual evening routine.
6/4/22 – Saturday – Up a little early this morning. Spent most of the day in the shack doing the KY QSO Party contest. It was a disappointment. Not many people on the air and the noise on some bands was very bad. I managed to make a handful of contacts and accumulated 90 points which is a very sad showing. And no digital activity at all. So, during the down time I put the components on the board for my keyer. Otherwise, usual evening routine.
Now the specifics:
We are making progress on the pool. I swear Kathy is dragging her feet on purpose. I can’t do anything till she gives me the go ahead or it will be wrong. Monday we got the cover off. She cleaned all the bird shit off the deck. Now we have a few spots to paint where it wore off last year. Wednesday we got the cover cleaned off and folded but it’s still laying on the ground over by the Morton building. I’ll try my best to get this wrapped up next week. I’ll keep you posted.
Monday evening we had a get together over at Mike and Julie’s house. Simple burgers, dogs and brats on the grill. Mike and Julie invited some friends so it was nice seeing everyone.
My John Deere has been at the dealer for two weeks now. I called several times Friday to get a status and no one answered the phone. This coming week I’ll stop by. They tend not to ignore you when you are there in person. In the mean time, we ordered a new zero turn. It should be here in 4 to 6 weeks. In the mean time I’ll just have to go borrow the son-in-law’s mower a few more times.
Wednesday evening one of Chloe’s rabbits died. It didn’t appear sick or anything so the vet thinks it was something like a heart attack or stroke. Anyway, Chloe was upset so I got things to fix her bike Thursday and went over to do that and keep her mind off the rabbit. She didn’t seem too distressed but I was glad to keep her busy a couple hours.
Friday I managed to get around to doing the monthly chores. This month beside changing the air filter in the furnace I also had the job of lubricating the overhead doors in the garage and Morton building. Also had a repair job to do on the pressure washer. That’s all done for this month.
The 4th was the KY QSO Party on the HAM radio. The objective was to contact as many people as possible in as many counties as possible. I didn’t do well at all. Not many people on the bands and the bands were noisy most of the day. But I participated and made some points. So I’ll turn in my log this week. Maybe no one else in the county participated and I’ll get recognized for that. Spent a lot of time this week getting setup for the event. Didn’t get everything done I wanted to do but I guess it didn’t matter.
Still working on my keyer project. Got most of that parts and populated the PC board. Need to layout the front and rear panel then wire it up and I’ll be done with that.
Kathy is still doing well with her cataract surgery. I saw a deer in the field and told her to come out. She saw it right away which was awesome.
Well that’s it for this week. As always, hope this finds everyone safe and healthy. Blog at you again next week.
