A little bit busy this week…………………………………………………
As always, first the chronology:
6/5/22 – Sunday – Up at the usual time. Cleaned up and out to church with Kathy. Kathy took food for the pot luck dinner after church. Got home around 1:30PM. Did some things around the house and out to Gary’s for the afternoon get together. Back and picked up Kathy and over to Cattleman’s Steakhouse for dinner. Home and changed clothes. Did the blog then out to put some paint on the pool deck where it was wore off from last season. Otherwise, usual evening routine.
6/6/22 – Monday – Up a little early today with the dogs. Didn’t sleep well. They were prowling and taking up space in the bed. Kathy was out to watch the grand kids. I got cleaned up and went out to run errands. Went to the vitamin store for my probiotics. Over to Harbor Freight for some more light strings for the pool deck. A stop at the office supply store for pen refills and of course they didn’t have the size I wanted. Then to Kroger Pharmacy to pick up a prescription for Kathy. Out to Wright Implement to check on my D170. Over to the bank and a slightly early lunch at Arby’s. Back to Dollar General for a finger nail brush but they didn’t have any. Then home. Took the dogs out and then an hour nap. Outside to cleanup the pool steps and deck chairs. Put the pool steps in the pool. Inside and waited for Kathy to come home. Dinner then usual evening routine.
6/7/22 – Tuesday – Up at the usual time. Kathy was out again to watch the grand children. I spent the day in the shack working on my keyer project. Think I have the code working. Won’t know 100% till I have everything put together. But it compiles, loads and displays correctly on the LCD. Started laying out the front panel. Can’t go any further till Friday when I get the switches and knob for the speed control. Kathy came home and we had dinner. Usual evening routine.
6/8/22 – Wednesday – Up a little early today. Had to go get Gary for our hair cuts. He is now using a wheel chair all the time. He is going downhill fast. Didn’t sleep well last night. Both dogs in the bed with us. Came home after the hair cuts and went back to bed. Up at lunch time. Spent the afternoon in the shack working on the keyed project. Had dinner and usual evening routine.
6/9/22 – Thursday – Up early this morning. Got a good night’s sleep. Cleaned up and out at 7AM for a doctor’s appointment at 8. Got back to the house around 9. Had another cup of coffee then got dressed and out to the Morton building to go over the motorcycle. Then off on about a 120 mile ride. Stopped at one watering hole on the way. Got home around 3PM. Kathy was shopping and came home. We got groceries unloaded and put away. I took a nap and she ordered Chinese for dinner. Had dinner then usual evening routine.
6/10/22 – Friday – Up at the usual time. Out and finished getting the pool setup. In for lunch. Some chores around the house and a short nap. Cleaned up and into J-town for HAM testing. Home and some dinner. Usual evening routine.
6/11/22 – Saturday – Up at the usual time. Kathy and I went over to Lowes to do some shopping. She got stain for the rear deck and I got some material for my keyer project. Quick stop at Walmart for a nail brush. Then to Cattleman’s for an early lunch. Home and unloaded things. Took a short nap and Kathy went out and started staining the deck. I finished up making all the holes in the frame for my keyer. Had dinner then painted the frame. Otherwise, usual evening routine.
Now the specifics:
I guess I should apologize to everyone first. I spoke to a friend of mine this week that asked how Kathy was doing as I sort of let that issue drop. So here is what I know. She had some checks done in terms of cardiac, blood work, etc. Everything came back negative. So that’s all good. It seems like when she started with the cataract stuff, the other ills disappeared. Or she isn’t telling me about them. Who knows what the real truth is. Anyway, she is no longer complaining to me about it and all test came back OK.

The pool is officially open for the season. Last Sunday we went out and touched up the paint on the deck where it was worn from use last year. Then Monday I got the pressure washer out and cleaned the stairs and got them in the pool. Then the deck chairs. Of course I ran out of gas in the pressure washer as I was doing the last chair and while going over to get more gas It started raining cats and dogs. But I stayed with it and got it done. Then Friday we went out and finished up by putting up the canopy, carpeting, etc. Still have some spots to touch up around the side of the deck where we filled holes from borer bees and I have more lights to finish up going around the pool. But if the kids want to come over it’s ready.
Kathy had a full week as she watched the grand kids Monday and Tuesday this week. That’s the plan for the summer. Kathy watches them two days, the babysitter watches them two days and Mike has off every Friday so he is with them on Friday.
Still working on my keyer project. Tuesday I spent the day getting the code in the microprocessor working. The last of my parts was not suppose to be here till Friday but they came Wednesday. So I got the final layout done and drilled the holes for everything and got it spray painted hammer tone grey. This week I’ll mount the parts and do the wiring. Then work any bugs out of the coding and it should be done. I’ll have pictures when it’s done.
Thursday I had an early doctor’s appointment. Came home, had another cup of coffee and off on the motorcycle. Made a short stop at one of my watering holes. Was out from around 10:30AM till 3PM. I don’t know what I did but my right leg hurt like hell. It’s slowly improving but not back 100%. I think I’ll talk to my friend at the pain management center and see if I can get another shot for the right leg. Seems like the left one is doing OK. I’ll keep you posted.
Friday evening I went to J-town Masonic Lodge to do HAM testing. Got two new hams and one that upgraded from Tech. to General. A successful event.
Last week I noticed that two of the five burners on the barbecue grill were not working so I toke that apart this week. I found a bunch of deteriorated parts so I priced out a kit to rebuild the inside. It will cost around $60 with shipping to completely rebuild the inside of the grill. That beats spending over $200 for a new one. And it should be good for another 3 or 4 years.
Stopped at Wright Implements and checked on the D170 lawn tractor. They haven’t had time to look at it. Apparently they only have one mechanic there now. Just can seem to get qualified help. I was tempted to offer my services but don’t think I want to get into that. And we haven’t heard anything about the new zero turn we ordered. So, I guess I”ll have to borrow the son-in-law’s mower this week and do the yard.
As I mentioned in the chronology, I went to get Gary on Wednesday for hair cuts and he is using a wheel chair all the time now. He went to the doctors this past week but I’m not sure what her found out for certain. Perhaps I’ll learn more today at our afternoon get together.
Well that’s it for this week. As always, hope this finds everyone safe and well. Blog at you again next week.
