Now this was a little busy…………………………………………………….
As always, first the chronology:
10/16/22 – Sunday – Up at the usual time. Out to church with Kathy. Had lunch there after the business meeting. Got home late so did some chores then out to Gary’s for the afternoon get together. Home and over to Yoki Buffet with the Rice family for dinner. Home and did the blog. Otherwise, usual evening routine.
10/17/22 – Monday – Up a little early. Called the garage door company about coming out and looking at the damaged door. Then out to the Morton building. Ran the portable generator for it’s monthly routine. Disconnected the water line to the garden and got that all put away. Moved the motorcycle from the house over to it’s place in the Morton building. Put away all the clothes for the motorcycle. Then worked on finishing up the process of closing that pool. That’s a monkey off my back. In for lunch. Then a nap. Up and chores, a snack and out to see Carter’s band concert. To Hometown Pizza afterward then home and usual evening routine.
10/18/22 – Tuesday – Up at the usual time. Spent the day in the shack and finished up the interface board and test it. Had one transistor with a lead in the wrong place and fixed that. Kathy went to a woman’s church meeting today. I had a light lunch and nice ham dinner. Usual evening routine.
10/19/22 – Wednesday – Up at 5AM this morning and on the road at 5:50. Got into Louisville and Norton Hospital ready to check in a few minutes past 6:30AM. Got registered and had the test. Got out of the facility around 10:30. Stopped on the way home at Ihop for breakfast/lunch and got home around noon. Worked on SVXLink software till about 2PM and couldn’t stay awake any longer. Took an hour or so nap. Up and ordered Chinese for dinner. Kathy ran out to get it. Usual evening routine.
10/20/22 – Thursday – Up at the usual time. Shelby was not feeling well so she stayed home from school. Kathy went up and got her then went to get her hair done so I went to the hair salon and picked up Shelby. Watched her till Kathy came home and we had lunch. The garage door man came and told us what we needed to fix things up. Then to the shack to work on SVXLink. Mike called and was dropping his car of at the shop so I went down and picked him up. Brought him back to the house and we had coffee. He took the Vibe and left. We had dinner then usual evening routine.
10/21/22 – Friday – Up at the usual time. Out to clean the church. Back home and cleaned ourselves up. Then out to Jimmy John’s in Middletown for lunch. Stop at Feeder Supply for dog food. Stop at Krispy Kreme for human food. Stop at the bank to get money for Kathy’s trip. Then home. Played radio. Bands were very good. Dinner and usual evening routine.
10/22/22 – Saturday – Up at the usual time. Got cleaned up and gathered Kathy’s things, loaded them in the truck and headed for the airport. Dropped her off then home with a stop for groceries. Put things away and dealt with the animals. Did some online work for SVXLink. Had a good lunch and a snack for dinner. Usual evening routine.
Now the specifics:
Well after Lynn’s comment last week I stopped to think. Yea, we are busy with things but if you stop and think about it there are some obvious answers. The big thing is we weren’t old and didn’t have to go to all these stupid doctor appointments and tests. And we didn’t have all the family we have today since our kids hadn’t grown up and married. We had the kids right there in the house with us. Still doesn’t explain everything does it Lynn.
OK, well a couple weeks ago the garage door where Kathy parks her car started having problems. It would start opening and stop and reverse before it got fully open. Same with closing it. Well, Kathy went out to go somewhere, put the garage door up (So she thought) and started to back out. Door had apparently stopped and started back down and she pushed the bottom of the bottom section of the door outside of the garage. I was able to disconnect the door from the drive and get it open for her to take her car out but the door was totally inoperative. So Monday I called the garage door people that fixed the door on the Morton building. They came out Thursday to take a look. The door is so old they don’t make the panels anymore and it would be virtually impossible to match them. So, we will replace both doors and probably the drive mechanism. I’ll get a call this Monday to let me know the details.
The pool is closed. I still have stuff laying on the trailer in the Morton building that needs put away and the filter is outside the garage in a garbage can soaking in chlorine water to kill all the algae. I’m sure that will be taken care of later this week.
Kathy took off Saturday evening with the Rice family to go visit Washington, DC. They flew down and will be coming back this coming Wednesday. So I have the dogs to take care of and no one to take care of me. I am very disappointed. lol
Carter’s fall band concert was this week on Monday night. I have no idea why they schedule this stuff on a week night when the kids will go to school the next day. Anyway, it was much improved. Sounded very good.
I finished the hardware for the SVXLink project. I am having problems with the software. I will be working on that and if all else fails I know a guy that has another repeater and might know a little about the Pi to help me out. I’ll give him a call later this week.
Had my Myelogram this week on Wednesday morning. Had to be at the Norton Hospital in downtown Louisville at 6:30AM. So, we got up at 5AM and got on the road about 10 till 6. Made it down there and was at the registration desk a few minutes past 6:30. The procedure was to inject a contrast substance in my spinal column then they did an X-ray or flouroscope procedure then wheeled me down to the CT area and did a Cat Scan. The process wasn’t too bad. I was done and out by 10:30. I go to the doctor’s this Monday at 1PM to find out the results.
Thursday was a bit hectic. Shelby was home sick so Kathy went up and got her but was running late for her hair appointment. She wanted to look beautiful in case she ran into Biden in DC. lol Anyway, I told her to go directly to the hair salon and I went down and picked up Shelby and watched her till Kathy got home. Then Mike was dropping his car off at Daugherty’s for a smell of anti-freeze in the car. So I took the Vibe down and picked him up. He dropped me off, had a coffee and picked up Shelby and went home.
Friday we went down and cleaned the church. Then up to MIddletown for Jimmy John’s sub sandwiches for lunch. Made a couple other stops for things Kathy needed for her trip.
Well that’s about it. Yes, it was busy. lol As always, hope this finds everyone safe and healthy. Blog at you again next week.
Agree with you about doctors and tests…throw dentists in there too! Trying to get appointments is ridiculous. I swear, everyone waits to do everything at the end of the year. Got my last shot – Prevnar 20 pneumonia vaccine. Haven’t had 2nd booster and not sure I will. Waiting for cooler weather to stay around. Got a taste of it but it didn’t stay. Till next week…stay safe and healthy.
