An interesting week……………………………………………..
As always, first the chronology:
10/23/22 – Sunday – Up early this morning. Rusty thought I should be up. Took care of the dogs. Had breakfast and took care of the dogs. Then cleaned up and took care of the dogs. Out to church. Home and lunch. Took care of the dogs. Did the blog and over to Gary’s for the afternoon get together. Home and took care of the dogs. Had dinner and took care of the dogs. Usual evening routine.
10/24/22 – Monday – Up at 4:30 this morning with dogs barking. Took them out and back to sleep till 8AM. Checked email and discovered that my back doctor wanted yet another test that I have to go in Louisville for and he wants it before he sees me. So, I got in gear and headed in town, got the test and got home by noon. Had a snack and headed up to my appointment at 1PM. Got back home around 3PM. Laid down with the dogs for a nap. Up and made myself dinner. Usual evening routine.
10/25/22 – Tuesday – Up again a little early today. Rusty decided it was time to get up around 7AM. So I got started. Worked on healthy insurance this morning. AT&T is changing the rules for retirees. That’s why I took my money and ran. They can’t mess with it. I’m sure they would have tried if I had let it there. Had lunch and took the dogs out and let them run awhile. Then down and worked on SVXLinks. Got one problem resolved and working on another. Otherwise, usual evening routine.
10/26/22 – Wednesday – Up a little early again. Got cleaned up early since the HVAC guy was coming sometime between 9 and noon. He got here about 10AM and did his thing. Propane guys stopped by to say hello and check the tank. About 11AM I took the Chrysler down to get gas. Stopped by McDonald’s and picked up lunch. Home and ate. Try to take a nap but dogs had other ideas. Got up around 4PM and ordered Chinese takeout. Went down and picked that up, home and ate. Did the usual evening routine then left the house a little after 8:30 for the airport. Kathy and the crew got in about 9:45. Home, unloaded the truck and put it away. Brought Kathy’s car over from the Morton building.
10/27/22 – Thursday – Up a little early today. Cleaned up and out to pick up Gary for our hair cuts. Home and tried to catch up on some sleep. Late lunch. Worked on SVXLink. Dinner and usual evening routine.
10/28/22 – Friday – Up at the usual time. Spent the day in the shack. Finished up the SVXLinks and Echolink is now up and running. Monkey two off my back. This afternoon started on the antenna kit I ordered from the ARRL. Went out for Mexican for dinner. Home and usual evening routine.
10/29/22 – Saturday – Up at the usual time. Dinner last night kicked my ass. Had breakfast and back to bed. Was up most of the night eating Tums. Didn’t do much all day but read and rest in bed. Kathy had a kickass roast for dinner. Otherwise, usual evening routine.
Now the specifics:
Well, spent the most part of the beginning of the week catering to the dogs. Kathy has them so spoiled that when they are bored and want to go out they just stand at the back door and bark. Drives me nuts. I guess that’s what they hope for.
Monday I was scheduled for an appointment with Dr. Gum, my back doctor. Got an email in the morning that said he wanted me to have a EOS test for scoliosis before he sees me and I’m to go get the test done and reschedule my appointment. I was lucky enough to get the notice early and since you didn’t have to schedule a time I went right downtown and got it done. Was done in time to make my 1PM appointment.
The visit with the doctor resulted in a recommendation that I not have surgery at this time and he wanted to try a few things through pain management. I told him I wasn’t happy with the place I was going so he got me a referral to another place. They called Friday this week and I’ll be going in to see them Monday. That’s all good.
Tuesday I spent the morning working on healthy insurance issues. It used to be that AT&T gave you a Healthy Reimbursement Account and you could use that to pay for premiums and deductibles. No questions asked. This year now we have to enroll in those programs through a system called “Alight” to get reimbursement for 2023. Then in 2024 we have to use their United Healthcare supplement insurance. One paragraph says it won’t cost anything then the next says I have to pay $50 a month for Kathy’s coverage. Just more screwing around with a person. It never ends.
Wednesday was a busy day. Had all sort of things scheduled. Then in the evening I went to the airport and picked Kathy up a little before 10PM.
Thursday was the normal hair cut day.
Friday was a great day. Finally got all the bugs worked out of SVXLink and Echolink is now on the air. That is monkey number 2 off my back.
Now I can work on some of my own projects. First is a shortened version of the antennas I use at the house. The ones on the house are about 133 feet long. The one I’m building will only be 65 feet long. Will make it easier to put up for events like field day and POTA. I’m looking forward to that.
Other than feeling like crap on Saturday. I guess the Mexican I had Friday night did a number one me. Felt like shit so just laid around and did some reading.
As always, hope this finds everyone safe and healthy. Please stay that way and I’ll blog at you again next week.
Hope they find the best resolution for your back issues.
