Had a very busy week. Lots done………………………………………………
As always, first the chronology:
11/13/22 – Sunday – Up at the usual time. Cleaned up and out to church with Kathy. Home and lunch. Did the blog. Over to Gary’s for the afternoon get together. Home and picked up Kathy. Out to Ihop for dinner. Home and usual evening routine.
11/14/22 – Monday – Up a little early. Cleaned up and helped Kathy get Bella over to the groomers by 8:30AM. Home and nap. Spent the rest of the day trying to navigate through the website to lock in our Medicare supplement, dental, vision and prescription drug coverage for next year. Spent most of the day to no avail. Will need to set up an appointment to chat with these folks and get things sorted out. Usual evening routine.
11/15/22 – Tuesday – Up at the usual time. Cleaned up and out to Gary’s new place to scope it out. Not many options. Had lunch over there. Got back a little before 3. Took a nap. Had dinner then down and worked more on the medical insurance. Otherwise usual evening routine.
11/16/22 – Wednesday – Up at the usual time. Back to work on the medical insurance. Made a few decisions then re-looked and changed everything. Think we got most of it nailed down. Went over for my 4PM appointment for my second set of shots in my back. Had dinner at the Cheese Cake Factory. Stopped at Kroger on the way home for a prescription and some groceries. Home and usual evening routine.
11/17/22 – Thursday – Up at the usual time this morning. Out to the Morton building to run the portable generator and work on the HAM radio in the truck. In for lunch. A nap. Then some research and ordered some parts from DX Engineering. Dinner and usual evening routine.
11/18/22 – Friday – Up at the usual time. Out to clean the church. Got back a little after noon. Had lunch then took my son-in-law down to Daugherty’s to pick up his Land Rover. Back to the house and did some computer work. Usual evening routine.
11/19/22 – Saturday – Up at the usual time. Didn’t sleep for shit last night. Got cleaned up and thing ready to take the Echolink node stuff up to the repeater site. Got up there around 11AM. Met with Alex who does the IT stuff for them. Took a couple hours to iron out all the problems but got it on the air by around 1:30PM. Got a call from Kathy. She was still at Walmart and wanted to know about lunch. She brought a couple of Jimmy John sandwiches back to the house. Had a late lunch and went back to bed. Up at 4:30PM and did some chores around the house. Mostly cleaning things up. Had dinner then usual evening routine.
Now the specifics:
Kathy has had problems getting appointments to have the dogs groomed in a timely manner. A new place opened up many months ago but they were quit a distance away. A few weeks ago she moved back into Taylorsville so Kathy decided to give her a try. We took Bella over on Monday and Rusty on Thursday. Very pleased with the results and she charges about the same as most other place around here. I think she’s a keeper.
We spent most of the Day Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday working on medical insurance issues. Things got a little more complex this time around because AT&T said they would only provide us with our HRA if we signed up for our medical plans through a place called Alight. Then next year they were pushing to use only the U.S. Healthcare plan they had negotiated for us. So we looked at what we needed to change then decided if we had to go with the U.S. Healthcare plan next year, why not just do it this year and be done with it. So that’s what we did. That will cover supplemental medical stuff and prescription drug coverage. We will still do the Dental and Vision plans ourselves. That won’t be too bad.
Mike and I went over to Gary’s new place in the retirement community on Tuesday to scope out what he has to work with. It doesn’t look good. I speculated on a few things and did a write up for Loretta to take to the powers to be. I seriously doubt they will allow any outside antennas. That limits things a lot. I’m not sure what we can do for Gary otherwise. Of course he’ll still expect to do all the same things he does now but I don’t think that will be economically possible. Time will tell.
Got my second set of shots in the back on Wednesday afternoon. I guess they will decide if I can have the ablation next and see if the insurance will cover it. Time will tell on that.
We had a lovely dinner after the visit to the pain management center. Went to the Cheese Cake Factory. Very good food. Haven’t been there in awhile. A little pricey and out of the way for us. Doubt we’ll do that again unless we are in the area.
Worked on the HAM radio in the truck and still have 70cm getting into the audio system in the truck. Did some trouble shooting and it appears the interference is coming in from the antenna. Went back to the house and did some reading. Seems those trucks are known for that problem and the only resolution is to relocate the antenna to the bed of the truck. So that will be my job this week. I think I’ll use some hardwood and build a mount to slide into the stake hole on the side of the bed. Need to make it thin enough for the cover to fit on the bed. That is now a work in progress.
Friday we cleaned the church. Got a late start and finished up a little after lunch. Got home and had lunch. Mike came over in the Vibe so I ran him down to Daugherty’s to pick up his Land Rover. They were working on the smell of antifreeze in the cabin this time. All is better now.
Saturday I finally got the Echolink hardware up to the repeater site where it belongs. Had a few problems but had a guy named Alex helping me and had my back so things got resolved and it was in service by around 1:30PM. Glad to have that monkey off my back.
That’s it for this week. Hope this finds everyone safe and healthy. Stay that way. Blog at you again next week.
