Week Ending 12/10/22

What a shit week……. Some will laugh, some will have sympathy….. Not sure which is appropriate…………………………..

As always, first the chronology:

12/4/22 – Sunday – Up at the usual time.  Cleaned up and out to church with Kathy.  Home and lunch.  Down to do the blog.  Over to Gary’s for the afternoon get together.  Home and dinner.  Mike came over to put his Land Rover in the Morton building for storage.  Usual evening routine.

12/5/22 – Monday – Up a little early.  Didn’t sleep for shit again last night.  My HAM buddy Mike came over and we went together over to haul some stuff out of our friend Gary’s HAM shack for the mover to take over to his new place tomorrow.  Got done around 11:30 and came back to the house.  Kathy was out shopping so Mike and I had a sandwich and some soup.  Mike departed and I did the dishes up and started the dish washer.  Tried to take a nap but my body wouldn’t cooperate.  Got up and got cleaned up.  Kathy came home and I helped her unload the car.  She took a nap and I did some research.  Then we went over to Chck-fil for Shelby’s birthday party.  Then over to Mike and Julies for cake and for Shelby to open her presents.  Home by 8:30 and usual evening routine.

12/6/22 – Tuesday – Up at the usual time.  Hurting from yesterday.  Got cleaned up and over to Lowes for some things.  Came home and fixed the light over the stove.  Got some things ready for the garbage.  Had lunch.  Tried to take a nap.  Slept 1/2 hour.  Started with Kathy’s Christmas list.  Had dinner.  Usual evening routine.

12/7/22 – Wednesday – Up late.  Developed a full blown cold last night.  Miserable sleep.  Spent most of the day in bed.

12/8/22 – Thursday – Up at the usual time.  Not feeling good.  Thought I should go to an urgent care facility and find out what is happening.  Was tested for COVID and flu and came back positive for COVID.  Have to quarantine for 5 days from onset of symptoms and wear a mask for 10 days after that.

12/9/22 – Friday – Up at the usual time.  Still not feeling well.  Spent most of the day in bed or sitting in a chair resting.  Nothing else notable to say about the day.

12/10/22 – Saturday – Up at the usual time.  Feeling a little better today.  Got some things ordered for Kathy and Todd for Christmas.  Was a dull day outside so didn’t mind at all staying in the house.  Nothing else notable today.

Now the specifics:

Well, got all the COVID shots and boosters and I still got COVID. I guess all you anti-vaxxers will enjoy that tidbit of information. lol But, I just felt like I had a bad cold. Only reason I went to Urgent Care was to avoid giving it to anyone else. Anyway, they gave me some pills and cough syrup that treats the symptoms. Started recovering from the cold like symptoms Saturday and started to get some energy back today. At least I’m not in the hospital like a lot of other 74 years old folks are that caught it. Anyway, the CDC recommends that you self quarantine for 5 days after onset of symptoms so that is over today. However, they say you should wear a mask if you go out in public for the next 10 days. So, I just cancelled everything for next week and the beginning of the following week and I’ll get stuff done around the house.

Only other thing that happened this week was helping get things out of Gary’s HAM shack to take with him to the new senior facility he and his wife are moving to. It is sad. I tried to have an intelligent conversation with him about taking all his junk but I guess after I left on Sunday he made arrangements with Mike to take a bunch of stuff he’ll never use or be able to use. I doubt seriously that they will allow him to put up any antennas so anything he drags over there is just an exercise in futility. A very sad situation. I just hope if I ever become that unreasonable that someone puts a boot up my ass.

We didn’t clean the church for two weeks because our friends Ron and Linda were here so Kathy did it herself this last Friday. I guess I’ll have to do it myself this coming week.

That’s it for this week folks. Not a lot happening here. As always, hope this finds everyone safe and healthy. Stay that way. Blog at you again next week.

  1. Hope you feel better. No matter the illness, at least you arent going to have to go through Christmas with COVID. Any sickness sucks.
