Week Ending 04/25/26

A time for decision……………………………………………………….

As always, first the chronology:

4/19/26 – Sunday – Up at 8AM and off to church with Kathy. Had pot luck lunch at church after the service. Came home and took a nap. Then off to Gary’s for the afternoon get together. Back home, picked up Kathy and went to Mark’s Feed Store for dinner with Julie and Mike.

4/20/26 – Monday – Up around 8AM. Out and started cutting up some of the trees that fell over the winter. Got most of the way through one large pine tree that came down and that was all we got done. Got cleaned up and loaded radios for POTA up at the lake this evening.

4/21/26 – Tuesday – Up at 8AM and was off to my last physical therapy session. Home and had lunch. Kathy was at the ladies group at church. I brought my radio’s in and Kathy came home from her woman’s group. Then we got ready to go to Shelby’s confirmation. We expected we’d go out for dinner but that didn’t happen. Home and left overs for dinner.

4/22/26 – Wednesday – Up at 6AM and off to work. Worked Circuit Court from 8AM to 3PM. Home, had dinner and to bed early.

4/23/26 – Thursday – Up at 6AM and off to work. Worked the Circuit Court Clerks office from 7:30AM to 4PM. Home, dinner and bed.

4/24/26 – Friday – Didn’t do much during the day as my leg was hurting from work yesterday. Managed to get cleaned up and out for dinner at Craft Pizza then to Kroger’s for grocery shopping.

4/25/26 – Saturday – Up at 8AM. Mike, Julie and the girls came over to help us finish up with the downed trees. They took off around 1PM. Kathy and I had lunch. Put ice on my knee and went to bed. Slept most of the afternoon. Up for dinner and chores around the house this evening.

Now the particulars:

We have been trying to hit new places to eat on Sunday evening. Of course some of you have mentioned that we eat out too much. But the truth is, it’s one thing we both enjoy and it’s a lot easier than cooking a meal for just the two of us. Anyway, we went to Marks Feed Store. They have a couple places around Louisville and they are a relatively good barbecue place. Since Mike and Julie were pretty much alone with the twins both working, we invited them to join us.

Monday I spent part of the day getting my radios ready for a POTA outing. Drove up to Taylorsville lake and never got them out. Just Dave and I showed up and we decided to just sit in the quiet and talk rather than get on the radios.

Tuesday I had my last physical therapy appointment. Now this will be a little bit of a long story. Most of the time when I ask Julie for medical advice or treatment her stock answer is “Go see your doctor”. So this time I slapped her up side the head, not really, and got her attention. I asked her to act like my daughter and not a PA. I said with all my leg problems should I be looking at knee replacement. She finally looked at me and just said “Yes”. So, since the knee injections never did much and didn’t last long and the physical therapy was doing little to nothing, I decided to just make an appointment with our orthopedic doctor and see what he will do for me. Julie said with the right replacement process and inpatient rigorous rehab I should be back at work in 3 weeks. So that is what we looking at.

As a side not, United Healthcare did not renew their contract with U of L physicians this year. When I called to get an appointment with my PCP who is with that group, I was informed that it would be $200 out of pocket for the visit. So, with all the other shit that’s going on I am moving to a different PCP.

I worked Wednesday and Thursday this week. Wednesday wasn’t bed. Had a trial and I spent time sitting at the door and standing in court. It’s much better to break things up like that. Thursday on the other had was a bitch. I usually hold all my computer work till then as I’m usually sitting around doing nothing else. Well I did get the one new policy reviewed. Then I was informed that the first graders in Spencer county would all be coming to visit. They came in groups of around a dozen the there were 10 groups. Beside my hating rug rats I had to be on my feet keep track of everything. That was a miserable day and I suffered for it Friday. I was so sore that I didn’t do a damn thing Friday.

By Saturday I was back in better shape and Mike, Julie and the grand daughters came over to help us clean up the rest of the downed trees. Everything is done now. Just have to get ride for the wood that a guy from church said he would take. Then when the burn ban is over we will burn the brush in the garden area.

Well that’s about it for this week. I will keep you posted on the medical crap. Otherwise, I hope this finds you safe and healthy. Stay that way and I’ll blog at you again next week.
