Now the particulars:

Week started out with Mother’s Day on Sunday. Only thing the ladies wanted was to have lunch without having to make it or clean up the dishes. One of the guy at work told me about a new place called Yummy Bowl. It’s a Japanese style place where you buy a bowl then move along a buffet style area where you pick out the raw ingredients you want in you meal and put them in your bowl. At the end of the line you give them a card with your name and what kind of rice you want and they cook your meal on a grill and deliver it to your table. Food is great, you get what you want and price is reasonable. And the most important, the ladies where happy.

The high light of the day Monday was having dinner with our friends Dave and Ginny. Dave is president of our HAM club and Kathy and Ginny get along well. We went to Aspen Creek restaurant which is a moderately priced good quality place. We all enjoy the food and the company.

Tuesday was the HAM club meeting. Little to no BS. Just one guy trying to be the informed person an everything. But we kept him in check and all was good.

Wednesday morning Kathy and I went to see the orthopedic surgeon about my knee. He said he would do it but we had to wait till 3 months after I had my last knee injection. They want to make sure there is no infection before they start the knee replacement. So, that puts it out to July 13th. He said they will use a robotic system that allows them to get things down to a millimeter. I guess that’s close enough for me. Anyway, he said the aggressive physical therapy is no longer used as they think it causes more trauma and irritation to the knee joint and they found that rest results in a better out come. So, the operation will be out patient. I’ll go home the day they do it. Then PT twice a week for two weeks, out patient PT for the next two weeks and I should be ready to go. He said I should be totally recovered and doing as well as I was before the knee problem in 3 months. So here’s hoping that it will all work out.

Friday I went for my eye checkup. It seems I am now a candidate for cataract surgery but the doctor isn’t going to push it since I’ll be doing the knee this year. So, I ended up getting two new pairs of glasses and a set of lenses for some frames I like. With my insurance I got the lenses, the complete new pair of regular glasses and a pair of prescription sun glasses for around $700. I didn’t think that was a bad deal. Just have to wait the two weeks till I get them.

That is about all the excitement for this week. As always, hope this finds you safe and healthy. Stay that way and I’ll blog at you again next week.
